Check whether Windows is booted in UEFI or legacy (BIOS) mode:

  • Run msinfo32.exe and look for BIOS Mode under System Summary.

Reboot directly into UEFI from Windows:

  • From an admistrative command prompt run shutdown /r /t 0 /fw

Change the UEFI boot order from Windows:


Reboot directly into UEFI from Linux:

  • As root run systemctl reboot –firmware-setup

Change the EUFI boot order from Linux:

  • Install efibootmgr (openSUSE 1 Click Install)
  • Run efibootmgr to see current order
  • Run efibootmgr -o [num],[num],…[num x] to set new boot order
